Understanding the roles of common medical specialists can empower you and your aging parents to make informed decisions about their healthcare.

A Plethora of Specialists
Primary Care Physician (PCP): Serving as the frontline of medical care, PCPs are usually the first point of contact for patients. They provide comprehensive care, including preventive services, routine check-ups, and management of common illnesses. PCPs coordinate referrals to specialists and should be sharing information about your visits with your PCP. Think of your PCP as your Health Care Captain who is going to help direct the ship for your overall health.
